Stage 2

Things can quickly feel like there getting on top of you during a multi stage event like this. Keeping on top of admin can be challenging what with packing /unpacking and all the other logistics.

So I thought would take the humorous approach of adding a series of statement that may or may not feel connected. Consider it a reflection of my general mental state.

1. Beautiful sunny, hot day.

2. While standing in a barrel of cold water at the end I met a German guy called Paul who was surprised I am Scottish with a name like Rudi. We cleared that one up.

3. At one point 1, 2 and 3 in our category were side by side on a climb. Really nice people!

4. Fuelling was much better today.

5. Alpine mountains are taller than the hills in Scotland but the views are pretty spectacular.

6. We had to wear helmets for a section, I had my blue MTB POC helmet and looked really cool.

7. Lots of people commented on the Scottish flag on my bib number.

8. Made a few pals.

9. Made it to 2nd on the podium for the stage and overall.

10. Awesome long descent to the finish. Anya and I were flying over roots and rocks, twisting and turning passing lots of people. Really good fun!

11. Forgot to mention that I went arse over elbow 1km from the end of day 1 after sniper fire/tripping over an iron peg resulting in cramp in both calves. How we laughed.

12. Had a paddle in a pond afterwards.

13. Also had a beer.
